What is Seaflora’s sustainable harvesting process?
The harvesting process begins before sunrise during the summer months. It is conducted mostly on foot in the ocean garden at low tide, using simple knives or scissors for hand-harvesting. We never harvest entire plants; the seaweed is simply given “haircuts,” with careful selection of mature seaweed while leaving younger algae undisturbed. Seaweeds are among the fastest-growing organisms on earth, growing up to and beyond 2 feet a day!
